A pedestrian, along with two occupants of a Honda Civic, were hurt in a crash which saw the compact car come to rest on its roof near Bridgewater’s main bridge.
Just after 3 p.m. Monday, Oct. 19, Bridgewater Police Service, paramedics and Bridgewater volunteer firefighters were dispatched to a roll-over collision on the Veterans Memorial Bridge.
Investigators learned a 2010 Honda Civic, while turning left onto the span from LaHave Street, struck a person attempting to cross the road. The intersection has traffic lights and pedestrian signals.
After striking the pedestrian, the Civic hit the light pole median and the sidewalk area before flipping over.
The three people involved in the crash are Lunenburg County residents. The female pedestrian, 60, and the Civic driver, a 68-year-old woman, and her passenger, a 75-year-old man, were taken to South Shore Regional Hospital.
The incident caused a temporary closure of the bridge for about an hour.
The matter remains under investigation.
