Bridgewater Police Service addressing traffic noise complaints

Drivers are encouraged to follow the rules of the road, including navigating streets with vehicles properly equipped and with good working mufflers.
Bridgewater Police Service officers are aware and targeting traffic enforcement when it comes to illegal modifications of motorcycles and passenger vehicles - changes which yield excessive noise disruptive to the public.
“Callers have reached out to us with concerns about revving engines and loud mufflers happening late at night,” said Scott Feener, chief of Bridgewater Police Service. “We’re working to deal with these issues and, with the public’s help, we can better zero-in on the problem areas in town.”
Motorists can be ticketed for having a poorly operating muffler. “In the end, we really just want people to drive safely and abide by traffic laws,” Feener said.
If the public notices a vehicle posing a safety risk, such as an excessively loud muffler, dial 902-543-2464 and provide as much information as possible (make/model of the vehicle, licence plate, direction of travel, description of driver).
