Vehicle check results in possession of stolen property charge
Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2026
Charges have been filed against a local woman after a Bridgewater Police Service officer noticed a suspected stolen vehicle while patrolling the west side of town during the overnight hours.
Just after midnight Sunday, Sept. 13, a patrolling officer observed a 2014 Volkswagen Jetta travelling in the Bridgewater Business Park. While mobile, police ran a check on the vehicle’s licence plate and, as a result of the check, the vehicle was confirmed stolen from a Lunenburg County address.
Police conducted a traffic stop near the corner of King Street and Logan Road. Three people were in the vehicle. An adult female driver and adult male passenger were arrested at the scene without incident.
Alanna Brown, 38, of Lunenburg County is accused of one count of possessing property obtained by crime. She was also charged with breaching a court order and ticketed for operating a motor vehicle without both a valid licence and insurance. Brown had been remanded in custody and was scheduled to appear yesterday (Monday, Sept. 14) in Bridgewater Provincial Court.
Meanwhile, a Lunenburg County man faces one count of possessing stolen property. The 65-year-old was released from custody but is subject to court-ordered conditions. He cannot be named because the charge document has not yet been filed with the court.
The third person in the Jetta was released without charge.
