Update on June 2025 Fires and Damage of Property – Arrests Made

BRIDGEWATER, NS – As a result of an investigation conducted by Bridgewater Police Service Criminal Investigation Division, three youths have been arrested in relation to fires and damage of property that occurred in multiple locations around Bridgewater on June 15, 2025.
At around 3:30 a.m. in the early morning hours of Sunday, June 15, 2025, Bridgewater Police Service and Bridgewater Fire Department responded to Shipyards Landing on south King Street confirmed that the southernmost section of the floating dock in the LaHave River at Shipyards Landing was on fire. The floating dock was destroyed. It was determined that fire had been intentionally set.
Police also noted that property at the scene owned by the Shipyard Shindig Music & Arts Festival or its contractors appeared to have also been damaged. Several other instances of damage to property were reported around Bridgewater.
Three youth have been arrested for arson and mischief. Two of the youths have been released from custody and will face charges of arson and mischief at later dates, while the third has been referred to the Restorative Justice Program.
