Deceased Person Located at Scene of Fire
(BPS File # 2026797184)
Bridgewater Police and Fire investigators have located a deceased person within the fire scene. Based on the current evidence and circumstances investigators believe the deceased is the unaccounted-for resident. Police cannot release further details until they are positively identified, and family is appropriately notified, BFD and Fire partners are diligently working on any remaining risks.
The fire is not fully extinguished as hotspots and smoke are still noticeable. The scene is also severely damaged causing structural risks. When there is no longer a risk the location will be turned over to Police. Once the building is safe for investigators, BPS will continue their investigation with the Office of the Fire Marshall and Nova Scotia Medical Examiners Office. The previously identified road closures will stay in effect until Police can release.
