Subject: Two men charged after investigation into Armed Robbery of North Street business on January 17th, 2026. (FILE #2026-76943)
BRIDGEWATER – On Saturday, July 17, 2026, Bridgewater Police Service (BPS) responded to Esso/Proxi, 2 North Street, Bridgewater for an Armed Robbery complaint at about 10:30 p.m.
The victim, a young adult female, reported that two masked males in dark clothing while brandishing handguns had just left the scene carrying a bag stolen lottery tickets and cash. After the initial police response from Patrol and K9 officers neither the suspects or weapons were located.
Investigators with BPS Criminal Investigative Division (CID) have completed an extensive investigation involving multiple jurisdictions. Based on the evidence gathered in their investigations Warrants to Search were executed early morning on March 12, 2026 at residences in Canaan, Lunenburg County and Halifax, Nova Scotia. NS Policing partners assisted BPS officers at both search scenes.
In the Canaan search officers were assisted by the RCMP H – Division Emergency Response Team (ERT), South Shore Street Crime and Lunenburg District RCMP. In the Halifax search officers were assisted by Halifax Regional Police (HRP)/RCMP Integrated General Investigation Section, HRP Quick Response Team and HRP ERT.
Stemming from the investigation, Barry James Dodge of Cannan, NS and Jason Dennis Weagle of Halifax, NS have been charged with the following:
- Use a Firearm while committing the indictable offence of robbery contrary to Section 85(1)(a) of the Criminal Code
- Have in his possession a restricted firearm while prohibited contrary to Section 117.01(1) of the Criminal Code
- Use a Firearm in robbing Bridgewater Proxi of Canadian currency and lottery tickets contrary to Section 344(1)(a.1) of the Criminal Code
- With intent to commit an indictable offence did have his face masked contrary to Section 351(2) of the Criminal Code
- Steal Canadian currency and lottery tickets, the property of Bridgewater Proxi of value exceeding five thousand dollars contrary to Section 334 of the Criminal Code
- Carry a handgun for the purpose dangerous to the public peace contrary to Section 88 of the Criminal Code
Both accused are currently in custody and will appear at Bridgewater Justice Centre on March 13, 2026 for arraignment.
