A 26-year-old Bridgewater woman has been criminally charged following the August 18, 2021, residential fire at 613 King Street detailed below. Jizelle Nicole Sanford faces charges of:
- Arson: disregard for human life
- Arson: damage to property
She is presently before the court at Bridgewater Justice Centre.

BRIDGEWATER, NS – On August 18, 2021, at approximately 2:05 a.m., members of the Bridgewater Police Service assisted Bridgewater Fire Department at a residential fire at 613 King Street, Apartment 3, in Bridgewater, Nova Scotia. The apartment was vacant upon the arrival of police and fire personnel and the fire was quickly extinguished. The interior of the apartment sustained fire, smoke, and water damage. No one was injured.
While attempting to identify the cause of the fire and any potential safety issues, it was determined that the cause of the fire was suspicious. Investigators from Bridgewater Police Service remained on scene to complete a further investigation. The cause of the fire remains undetermined at this stage of the investigation and police are seeking the public’s assistance on this matter.
