On October 19, 2021, at approximately 7:00 p.m., Bridgewater Police Service responded to a break and enter at a residence on Evergreen Road in Bridgewater, NS.
While at the Evergreen Road residence a second call was made for another break and enter in progress at the Anglican Church Hall on Alexandra Avenue. A male youth was seen running away from that property and was located by Bridgewater Police patrol officers a short distance away. When affecting the arrest of the male, the youth resisted the police officer but was quickly subdued and taken into custody. Neither the youth or the officer was injured. The male was found in possession of items stolen from the residence when arrested.
Bridgewater Police Service K9, Scene of Crime Officers (SOCO), and General Investigation Service (GIS) assisted patrol officers with the investigation overnight. SOCO officers located evidence at both locations that requires further examination. Both locations had significant damage that is believed to have been caused by the youth. After completing an article search, the BPS K9 team retrieved additional stolen items.
A Bridgewater youth has been released on conditions to attend Bridgewater Justice Centre on January 19, 2022, for plea. Charges are pending as the investigation continues.
