Subject: Impaired driving, assault charges laid following collision (FILE# 2022-1787887)
BRIDGEWATER, NS – Multiple charges have been laid following a motor vehicle collision with a power utility pole on Aberdeen Road in Bridgewater.
On December 13, 2022, Bridgewater Police Service, along with fire and paramedics, responded to several 911 calls reporting a single motor vehicle collision on Aberdeen Road on Bridgewater’s east side shortly after 8 p.m. Emergency responders arrived at the scene, located near civic address 186 Aberdeen Road, where a Jeep Liberty had collided with a utility pole.
At the scene, police located a 28-year-old male still behind the steering wheel of the vehicle and showing signs of impairment.
The male was removed from the vehicle by Bridgewater Fire Department and EHS personnel, and subsequently was arrested at the scene before being transported to South Shore Regional Hospital.
Tyler Chambers, of Oakhill, Nova Scotia, appeared at the Bridgewater Provincial Court House on Wednesday, December 14, at 9:30 a.m. facing the following charges:
– Impaired Driving
– Driving Over 80 mgs
– Assaulting two paramedics
– Assaulting a police officer
– Two charges of Breach of Recognizance for possessing and consuming intoxicating substances
As of Wednesday morning, Nova Scotia Power crews remain at the scene doing repair work on the damaged power utility infrastructure.
