Subject: Two people charged following 911 call reporting assault in Bridgewater (FILE #2025226775)

BRIDGEWATER, NS – A man and a woman have been charged following an alleged assault and stabbing in Bridgewater on Thursday afternoon.

At 12:37 p.m. on Thursday, February 20, 2025, Bridgewater Police Service responded to a 911 call from an address on Walnut Street in Bridgewater for a reported assault.

After arriving on scene, police learned that a 30-year-old male from Bridgewater had suffered multiple stab wounds inside the residence from which the 911 call originated. Accounts of what happened varied as two of the involved parties had consumed drugs.

The male was subsequently transported to South Shore Regional Hospital by Emergency Health Services, where he was treated for his wounds.

As the thorough investigation proceeded, police were able to determine that an assault was alleged to have occurred involving an intimate partner couple at the residence. Another woman, who police believe was visiting the residence, is believed to have become involved in the altercation and is alleged to have stabbed the male multiple times.

The woman was arrested in the vicinity a short time later, following a significant police response in the area. A knife was located during the arrest.

All three individuals were ultimately arrested, and two face charges:

Stacey Dykstra, 33, of Bridgewater has been charged with:
- Attempted Murder under Section 239(1)(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada (CCC)
- Aggravated Assault with a Weapon under Section 268 (CCC)
- Possession of a Weapon under Section 88(1)

Tyler Robarts, 30, of Bridgewater has been charged with:
- Two counts of Assault under Section 266 (CCC)
- Breach of Conditions under Section 145 (CCC)

Both individuals were scheduled to appear in Bridgewater Provincial Court on Friday afternoon. Importantly, there is no threat to public safety arising from this event.
