BRIDGEWATER POLICE CONSTABLE - Officer Prerequisites
- Proof of Grade 12 or GED (Grade 12 General Equivalence Certificate)
- Graduated from Atlantic Police Academy, some other recognized Police
Academy or 5 years experience as a regular member of another police force.
- Résumé identifying record of employment, education, 3 references
(non-family, work related preferred)
- Provide a Driver's abstract with an acceptable driving record
- Proof of keyboarding skills (25 wpm)
- No criminal finding of guilt (Criminal Record check supported by
fingerprint submission)
- Proof of successful completion of P.A.R.E. (Physical Ability requirement
Evaluation) Test form Part A&B. Test must have been conducted by an official
test administrator within 12 months of this application. Site to be
determined by Police Service.
- copy of Financial Background Check.
- Pre-employment polygraph exam.
- Medical examination by a qualified medical practitioner selected by
employer.
COMMUNICATIONS TECHNICIAN
The Communications Technician position is a 12 hour shift including days, nights, and holidays.
This person provides all communication functions and :
- must be well organized
- able to multi-task in a stressful environment
- able to work independently as well as cooperatively with staff and the
public
- must be computer literate
- must be proficient with standard office software
- security clearance is mandatory
Under general supervision of the Chief of Police, the Communications Technician will:
- provide telephone and counter service
- assist in administration of operational and policy filing systems
- operate radio and CPIC, PIINS, PIRS, PROS (training provided in office)
- perform receptionist duties

AUXILIARY CONSTABLE PROGRAM
The enhanced Auxiliary Constable Program compliments the Community Policing Program.
Applicants must possess the following qualifications:
- Minimum High School diploma or G.E.D.
- Must be 19 years of age or older
- Must possess a valid Nova Scotia driver's license.
Requirements include:
- Security clearance
- Certificate of medical suitability
- Must attend a three day training course at the Atlantic Police Academy,
PEI
- Must be able to volunteer 60 hours in each three month period
